Rabbi David Lifshitz (1907-1993) was chief rabbi of Suwalk, Poland before World War II. Fleeing the Holocaust in 1941, he was appointed RoshYeshiva (Dean) of Beit Midrash LeTorah (Hebrew Theological College) in Chicago. In 1944, was appointed a Rosh Yeshiva at the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, where he taught for almost 50 years.
